Investment Management Lab

Depth before breadth.

Our two pods are designed around clear ownership, written investment views, and teams that can grow as coverage expands.

Technology · Fixed Income and Credit
01Technology

Sector specialization.

Technology is too broad for generalist coverage. Each analyst owns a distinct subsector, develops fluency in its companies and industry structure, and produces research that can be challenged by the wider pod.

01

Software

Enterprise and consumer software, cloud applications, infrastructure, and security.

02

Fintech & Payments

Payment networks, processors, financial platforms, and emerging financial technology.

03

Internet

Large-cap platforms and e-commerce, with room for dedicated gaming and online travel coverage.

04

Semiconductors

Design, manufacturing, equipment, and the infrastructure supporting the chip value chain.

05

Media

Streaming, entertainment, and the changing economics of content and distribution.

06

Digital Infrastructure

Cloud, data centers, networking, and the physical systems behind the digital economy.

A scalable model

Analyst assignments stay non-overlapping: software and fintech and payments, for example, belong to different owners. As the pod grows from five to ten or fifteen members, large subsectors can become teams without changing the underlying structure.

02Fixed Income and Credit

One portfolio. Two connected views.

An AGG-benchmarked manager needs both a rates view and a credit view. The pod develops each independently, then brings them together in a documented portfolio position.

Team 01

Macro and Rates

Develops views on interest-rate direction, portfolio duration, and—over time—the shape of the yield curve.

Core deliverable

A short memo before major employment, inflation, and Federal Reserve events, generally about once per month, stating the expected outcome and how the simulated portfolio is positioned.

Team 02

Credit

Determines the appropriate level and quality of credit exposure relative to the benchmark rather than working under a fixed high-yield limit.

Core deliverable

A written view of the credit cycle, current versus historical spreads, issuance, and key risks, expressed through investment-grade, high-yield, or distressed exposure.

Benchmark discipline

Measure every decision against AGG.

50–100 bpEducational annual outperformance target
DailyRelative performance monitoring using the AGG ETF
Rates + creditAttribution of where the pod is making or losing money

The pod studies the duration and credit exposures of the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index, uses the AGG ETF as a practical daily comparison, and assigns an owner to maintain the tracker. Meetings begin with a concise performance summary and relevant market developments. The target is an educational objective, not a promise of investment performance.
